About Us;
The City of Rockledge is the oldest incorporated municipality in Brevard County, founded on the shoreline of the Indian River Lagoon on August 7, 1887. Rockledge covers approximately 11 square miles with a 2006 population of 25,225 residents as of April 1, 2006.
As a full service community, the City of Rockledge provides law enforcement, fire protection, including emergency medical technicians; garbage, trash and recycling collection; sanitary sewer services, including water reclamation; and a Public Works department responsible for streets, roads, sidewalks, drainage and other infrastructure. While Rockledge is primarily a residential community, it does have a stable industrial base of clean, light industry. Rockledge also enjoys a wide variety of available commercial centers to meet the needs of its residents and has one hospital, four public schools, three private schools and churches of various denominations.
