In May of 2002, Northwestern Elementary School was renamed Claude Thompson Elementary after Mr. Claude Thompson, a former principal and educational leader in Fauquier County.

Thompson Elementary is a Kindergarten/First Grade school located in Marshall, Virginia. It is here where children are provided with a nurturing, academic program to give them the necessary educational foundation. Much emphasis is placed on reading.
