The Independence Missouri Chapter #1 of the Cold War Veterans Association meets the third Thursday, at 7 p.m. at the Truman Presidential Library in the Whistlestop Room. (Use the East entrance.)
The Cold War Veterans Association (CWVA) is a tax-exempt, federally-recognized 501(c)(19) veterans service organization open to honorably discharged veterans and active-duty personnel who served at any time during the Cold War period – September 2, 1945 to December 26, 1991. (NOTE: RESERVISTS and National Guardsmen who engaged in basic training, advanced training, and/or annual training during this period ARE ELIGIBLE.)
The Mission of the Cold War Veterans Association is to:
Fight for rights and benefits that Cold War Veterans deserve;
Educate people as to why the Cold War was fought and why vigilance must be maintained; and
Provide a fraternal community for men and women whose patriotism binds them together.
