Community Christian Center

Community Christian Center is the result of a sovereign work of God.  The church was established September of 1984 after a number of local Christian families requested the aid and support of the Marion Christian Center.  Many of these Christian families had been coming together in fellowship on a regular basis for several years.

In the spring of 1984, Marion Christian Center’s Pastor, John Watson and his associate minister Bill Williamson, began leading a Bible study in the basement of the medical building on North Sandusky Ave.  They studied the Bible using a workbook entitled, "Bible Studies for a Firm Foundation", by Bob and Rose Weiner.  As the summer progressed, it was evident that God was raising up a new local church.

When August came around, we conducted our first business meeting and began the process of establishing a new local church.  William Alan Williamson was selected as the Pastor, Juanita Rieser was chosen for the position of treasurer, Jeannette Rhodes became the secretary of the organization, and our first Sunday morning service was scheduled for September 16.  At our first service, 75 people attended and the attendance continued to grow weekly.  And by October, more than one hundred people gathered in our small space to praise our Savor and Lord, Jesus Christ.  AMAZING!

In four month's time, we had outgrown our space at the medical building and moved to The Little Theater at the Upper Sandusky High School where we met for the next three years. And, during the third year, we were building our very own building. Because of dedicated people doing most of the work, our new Community Christian Center was paid in full when we moved in, November 1987.

As the church continued to grow, our Sunday school department grew also.  So in 1991, two wings with eight more classrooms were added making the original 10,000 square feet building into a 15,000 square foot building.
