About Us :
Community United Methodist Church can be traced back to December, 1904, when a community Sunday School was started in a little farming village called Wintersburg. Soon members incorporated as a Methodist Church. In 1906, the structure, still located on Warner and Gothard, was built.
In the early 1960's, the members decided it was time to relocate to accommodate the church's changing needs. Our current site, formerly the farm of John, Jr., and Norma Murdy, was presented as a gift to our church. They had a vision for the future and undertook the sacrifices necessary to ensure that this vision would come to pass.
Community United Methodist Church stands upon a very firm heritage. Today, we are proud of our mission and community outreach programs: The Food Closet, support of Interval House, involvement with Beach Cities Interfaith Services (formerly Ecumenical Service Alliance), and many others. We offer study and worship for all ages, each Sunday and often mid-week. In addition, we have many other outstanding groups and programs.
