Mission Statement:
To take our productions into the local schools at all grade levels, both public and private; firm in our belief that art, like justice should be blind as it relates to race, religion, ethnicity, or social standing.
To give the youth of our area interested in pursuing careers in opera and musical theatre a solid background on which to build their dreams as singers, musicians, and stagecraft artists.
To encourage the support and creative energies of not only the Como community, but also all of Northwest Mississippi in the establishment of a strong and vital company dedicated to quality musical theatre.
By bringing about a better awareness, understanding and appreciation for opera, which it's use of music, drama, dance, and the visual arts makes it the most complex and complete art form.
To build on the rich musical and artistic heritage of our town.
To enrich and enhance the lives of our audiences by offering professional entertainment and education of the highest standards possible.
About Us:
The Como Opera Guild is a professional, non-profit, performing arts company dedicated to two main goals. The first goal is to bring the joy and beauty of opera and musical theatre to the children and populace of Northwest Mississippi. The second goal is to provide performance and production opportunities for young artists in our area, with the hope that we will help them to build their resumes in a professional yet supportive learning environment.
To reach these goals, we offer free performances for the children of public and private schools as well as the after school programs like Boys and Girls Club, Boy and Girl Scouts, Home schooled children and others. We also perform for the general public at least one performance per production. At this point in our development, all performances are in English with piano accompaniment.
