Mission:
As followers of Jesus Christ, our mission has been laid out by Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20. There Jesus says, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” In light of this our mission is to make the name of Jesus known throughout all the Earth because there is given no other name under Heaven by which man may be saved. We have been placed in Cookeville to bring glory to God here and to the ends of the earth. We want all people to know the joy and hope we have in a relationship with God through his Son, Jesus.
Vision:
Our vision is “Desire God. Disciple People. Devote Ourselves to Serve.” You will hear these three D’s throughout all of the ministries of First Baptist.
We want all people to “Desire God.” A desire for God arises out of understanding and believing the Good News of Jesus. We understand that God loves us and showed us that love in Jesus’ death on the cross. We desire to know more about God, but more than that we desire to know him personally. This desire leads us to worship him in all that we do.
Because we desire God, we desire people. Jesus tells us that we are to “make disciples.” Discipleship is the process where we grow spiritually more like Jesus. This happens in variety of different ways. As a church, we want to walk with you as you become more like Jesus.
Being disciples of Jesus leads us to devoting ourselves to serving him. At FBC, we want to help you find different ways to serve God from places inside the church to serving in Cookeville to taking the Gospel to the nations.
