Cornerstone Baptist Church

112 County Road
207-853-4208

The Cornerstone Baptist Church of Eastport is an independent Baptist church constructed in 2005 on the island of Eastport , Maine, the most easterly city in the United States. It was built by the congregation of the Washington Street Baptist Church. Although the Cornerstone Church building is new, the church itself was started in 1802 in the old meeting house on Smith's corner in the north end of town. It was later housed in the building that is currently the Barracks Museum and from the mid 1800's to 2004 was housed in the building formerly known as The Washington Street Baptist Church. Our new church is operated as an independent, non-profit, Baptist church incorporated under the laws of the state of Maine. The Washington street building was sold in 2005 and is now the Eastport Arts Center.

The Cornerstone facility is approximately 7500 square feet of building space located on 15 acres of land on the corner of County Road and Clark Street. The sanctuary has a seating capacity of 169 and has "state of the art" sound and video capability. The Fellowship wing has a large fellowship hall, 5 classrooms, two offices, a nursery, full-service kitchen, utilities room, and a storage area. The heating system is radiant in-floor. Soccer and softball fields are currently under construction behind the church facility. Designed by the people of the church, the new facility can be easily expanded if necessary and has been laid out to incorporate a future gymnasium.
