The mission of Corona Fundamental Intermediate School is to provide students with a rigorous educational program in a traditional setting stressing mastery of basic academic, critical thinking and effective communication skills with respect for fellow students, authority, and country.
Corona Fundamental Intermediate School is a unique back-to-basics fundamental intermediate school whose motto: "Traditional Values - High Expectations - Successful Students" embodies the heavy emphasis placed upon academic excellence on a four-track, year-round schedule. Corona Fundamental Intermediate School is rich in historical heritage and is one of the oldest schools in the district (lower building built in 1922, main building 1947) as well as in Riverside County. The quaint architecture and design lends itself to the traditional approach to the education offered at CFIS.
Corona Fundamental Intermediate School has a diverse population of over 1100 students. The composition of the student body includes 46% White, 2% African-American, 46% Hispanic, and 6% other.
Parent-School Partnership is the by-word at CFIS. Parent involvement is high and critical to the program. Parents donate thousand of service hours to our school each year.
In 1992 and 1999 CFIS was selected as a Distinguished School in the state of California for its exemplary program and test scores. We will continue to pursue recognitions for the outstanding educational programs offered at CFIS.
