Cressona Elementary School

45 Wilder Street
570-385-5580

Originally built as a high school in 1929, the school later housed elementary students until its close in 1989. At that time the building began to show signs of deterioration and the decision was made to close the school. An increase in district enrollment led to the need to reopen the school and extensive renovations began. Re-opened since 1994, the school is ever ready to meet the needs of its students. In addition to two of each classroom, Kindergarten through grade 5, we also have two learning support resource classrooms. Title One services are provided by a reading specialist. Special teachers instruct students in art, vocal music, instrumental music, enrichment classes and physical education. Library services are provided by a librarian and Guidance services are also available. A technology coordinator assists with technology needs, and provides instructional input.

Supplemental services such as speech, occupational therapy and other itinerant programs are also available. Medical services are provided by a registered nurse. It is our belief that a school is only as successful as its least successful student. To that end our faculty and staff are dedicated to meet the needs of every student within a rigorous curriculum. We seek to include our families as a vital part of the academic program. An active Parent-Teacher Organization provides a variety of activities throughout the year which serves to enhance the academic curriculum. We invite you to visit the school for a hands-on tour. We hope you will find that we live up to our motto-"From the beginning, a tradition of excellence."
