Our History:
Crossing Healthcare, formerly the Community Health Improvement Center, is a federally qualified health center that provides primary outpatient healthcare. Since 1972, we have been operating as a non-profit organization serving Decatur and Macon County and striving to make our community a healthier one. Crossings Healthcare provides medical care to men, women, and children of all ages with and without health insurance. We offer different payment options and assistance programs available to better serve those with the greatest need.
Crossing Healthcare continues to expand services to meet the needs of our community. We also have access points for medical services at the Macon County Health Department; Heritage Behavioral Center at the OASIS day center in Decatur, Illinois; and at Urbana School Based Health Center in Urbana, Illinois. In 2014, we opened a new access point at Decatur Memorial Hospital near the emergency department to serve the walk-in urgent care needs of our patient population. Crossings Healthcare employs more than 80 people and treats over 12,000 people each year.
