Mission:
It is the mission of the Dale City Swim team to provide the youth of our community with a high quality summer swim experience and to develop a sense of self-esteem, confidence and achievement while teaching the sport of competitive swimming. DCST promotes character and community.
About Us:
The Dale City Frogs Swim Team, or DCST, was founded 32 years ago and is one of 23 summer swim teams that make up the Prince William Swim League (PWSL). We are one of 4 public teams in the County. DCST is a family oriented swim team. We are open to all children of Prince William County between the ages of 5 – 18. We are committed to providing each swimmer with the opportunity to develop strong body, mind and spirit in a team environment. We strive to develop each swimmer to the best of his or her ability. Through daily swim practices and weekly swim meets, we offer each swimmer the opportunity for personal growth and development of team commitment. We encourage each swimmer to work hard, develop self-discipline, and strive to do his or her best. However, we never lose sight of our second rule. We want the team to be fun and exciting and instill life long friendships for our swimmers and their families.
During the summer swim season, which runs from May 29th through July 28th, we practice 5 evenings a week at Birchdale Pool, just off Dale Bvld, near I-95. We have a dynamic coaching staff for 2007. John Gullickson is our new Head Coach. He began his swimming career at age 5. He stayed with Summer Swim Teams until he aged out. He has a deep love of summer league swimming. He swam for Mt Vernon and West Potomac High School swim teams. He began coaching in 2004 for a summer league team. Beginning in 2005, through the present, he worked as Assistant Coach at Harrisonburg High School. Our other 5 dedicated coaches have been with the FROGS for at least 5 years. They love working with the swimmers and look forward to returning each year to lead the development and growth of their swimmers. Barbara Claybrooks, Caitlyn Combs, Sue Mulvehill, Clare O’Loughlin, and Stephen Schorn truly make a positive difference in lives of our swimming community. Our coaches know our swimmers by name and have a great rapport with them.
