The Daniel Street Elementary School is committed to the principles of the new Compact for Learning. The total education of each child is our goal. Individual needs are addressed under the assumption that all children can and will learn. Parents, teachers, students, administrators, and community members are all encouraged to work together to reach this goal.
Each student at Daniel Street attends special programs, including physical education, art, music, library and computer instruction weekly. Students are also offered individual instrumental music lessons in the fourth and fifth grades. Our psychologists, social worker, speech, resource, and reading teachers perform evaluation, guidance, and remedial work. Two full-time nurses are also available to take care of the medical needs of students.
Many other programs are housed at the Daniel Street School, including after-school programs, reading, peer-leadership, pen-pals, growing healthy, high-intensity tutoring, Cultural Arts Program, student council, and drug intervention.
The Daniel Street Elementary School provides a strong learning foundation for elementary learners of all ages and skill levels. We are proud of our school-community, our programs, and most of all, our students.
