OUR STORY:
THE FIRST SUNDAY
On Sunday, February 2nd, 2003, Discovery Church took it’s very first public breath. That Sunday was an amazing day as hundreds of people flooded Edwards Theater on the west end of Simi Valley, California.
In the first series we talked about our Discovery DNA and the values of God’s Word, Relationships, Worship and Prayer.
On that very first Sunday we proclaimed to God that all we want to be is a “new church like the first church” as established in Acts 2!
THE FIRST YEAR
In the first year, Discovery saw over 100 people make commitments to Jesus Christ and be baptized! Our attendance leveled out around 300 after our initial launch and increased to nearly 500 by our second anniversary.
THE FIRST FACILITY
In August of 2004, we closed escrow on our very first facility located at 580 East Easy Street in Simi Valley, California. This facility is approximately 50,000 square feet and has been built out into many creative environments that will prayerfully “capture the curiosity of our culture!”
In May 2005, we moved into phase one of this new facility and in September 2005, we moved into the full facility.
YEARS LATER
In just 13 short years as a church, we have witnessed hundreds of people make commitments to Jesus Christ and be baptized and have been given the opportunity to share the good news with our community of Simi Valley.
