Founded in March 2001, East Bay Bariatric is a supportive and valuable resource for people who have had or are considering weight loss surgery ("WLS"). Our support group meetings offer education, encouragement and community to help people determine if bariatric surgery is right for them and/or to reach and maintain their optimum weight loss. (We have discovered patients need a support group more AFTER the weight is gone, not exclusively before.) Together we provide insight for supporters as well so they can better understand and help their loved one through the transformation.
East Bay Bariatric is an independent, peer support group meaning there is no medical staff present; it's just us patients supporting each other in a safe setting.
We meet on the third Saturday of the month at Alameda Hospital's Conference Room C. There is a special Q&A session for pre-ops and newbies (first year post-op) that meets from 2:00-2:30 p.m. and then the general meeting for everyone from 2:30-4 p.m.
Meetings are free and open to all. Registration not required. Just show up!
