Edgecombe ARTS is a non-profit agency that was chartered in 1985 to nurture and promote the arts and cultural heritage of the Tar-Pamlico River for all citizens of Edgecombe County.

Our activities include the following: operating and maintaining an art museum, the 1808 Blount-Bridgers House; operating a history museum, the Pender History Museum; operating the Hobson Pittman Memorial Gallery for changing exhibitions; maintaining the Hobson Pittman Studio, an exhibition on the artistic works of Tarboro-native painter Hobson Pitman; developing the Blount-Bridgers Arboretum, a garden of Edgecombe County 19th century native plant species on the grounds of the Blount-Bridgers House, maintains a gallery of Edgecombe County Artists. Edgecombe ARTS also conducts art classes, sponsors cultural events throughout the county, and maintains architectural records of the Tarboro Historic District and Edgecombe County.

Our programs include: art exhibits that promote local and regional artists and craftsmen displayed in the Hobson Pittman Memorial Gallery on the second floor of the Blount-Bridgers House; performances that showcase local and national talent at the Keiheen Auditorium at the Community College and children's educational workshops and summer programs. We also help organize and promote the Happening on the Common, an annual community arts festival on Tarboro's historic Town Common and Edgecombe Arts History Festival held every 4th Saturday in September.
