About Us

Edwin Markham Middle School in the Placerville Union School District serves 400 students in grades 6 through 8. The school is situated in the community of Placerville in the Sierra foothills 40 miles east of Sacramento on Highway 50.

"Inspiring a generation of lifelong learners" is the goal of the 22 teachers and 19 support staff. All basic subjects and many electives are taught each day. The 6th grade is primarily taught in core blocks. The efforts of the Markham staff are focused on providing the best possible educational experience for all students.

Parents are an important component in the effectiveness of Markham School. The School Site Council, Parent Club, parent volunteers for field trips and dance chaperones, Back-to-School Night, Open House, Shadow Your Child to School Day, and Parent/Teacher Conferences are an integral framework of parent support for the school. The buildings and grounds are in continual use evenings and weekends as the school often serves as the hub of the sports community.
