Elwood Kindle School is a neighborhood elementary school with an enrollment of 275 students. We have grades Kindergarten through fifth grade and each grade has two classrooms. Two Resource Room programs accommodate individual students' needs. Other services include a basic skills pullout program in grades 1-5 in reading and math, reading recovery for first graders, guidance counseling and speech therapy.
Our original building dates back to 1926 and was named after Elwood Kindle who died in WWI. In our new addition, we have a computer laboratory with computer instruction at each grade level, a new media center, a spacious art and music room, and three general classrooms.
Strong foundations for learning are established at Kindle School. Our teaching approach is varied and includes hands on experiences, cooperative learning, and teacher directed activities.
Kindle School is highly involved in service projects outside of school that foster in students the understanding of commitment to our community and helping others in need. We also keep in touch with our neighbors and enjoy involving them in our school activities.
