Exploration Station

104 North Chestnut Street
910-738-1114

Mission:

Our mission is to enrich the lives of children, families, teachers and childcare providers by providing unique hands-on learning experiences.

History:

The building in "community building" starts with each of us. Especially building a community with the youngest in mind. Exploration Station is a place where the youngest in mind is at the heart of all programming. The Hands On Learning Center was built in 2000 with Smart Start funds, a BB&T contribution and other private sector donations. Exploration Station exists to enrich the lives of children, youth, families, teachers and childcare providers by creating unique and extraordinary experiences that help create a love of learning. Over the years, the center earned recognition as a national member of the American Children's Museum Association. At the heart of the center children's programming includes weekly storytimes, monthly art classes, Kids Kamps, and exhibits that encourage learning through creative and imaginative play.

From Exploration Station's grand opening on September 27th, 2000, programming and use at the Station continues to grow. Ever present economic obstacles have not reduced the quality of the center. The quality and growth is due to the community's support and belief that the center is a place where education with imagination empowers the mind and makes learning fun.

About Us:

Exploration Station is a NON-PROFIT Children's Museum dedicated to enriching the lives of children and families by providing HANDS ON learning Experiences.
