Our pastor, Robert Glover, was born and reared in Alton, Illinois. After finishing High School, he moved to New York where he attended Baptist Bible College. The school is now located in Clark Summit, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from Bible college he accepted a call to a small ministry in Kansas City, Missouri. He took up the ministry of Ridgewood Baptist church in August of 1960. This congregation of eight families was meeting in a building on 43rd street, near the Blue Ridge Mall.
In the summer of 1965 he led the congregation of eight families to sell that property and buy the old Catholic church property at East 3rd and Johnson Streets in downtown Lee's Summit, Missouri.
Our church decided to choose "Faith" as its new name, since the 14 mile move, and the starting of the new church in the new community, was such a big undertaking for the eight families. Faith was not just the name of the church, it was the principle behind it. We have seen over the years that every time we have stepped out by faith, the Lord has honored us and His Word.
During the next few years, as the church started to grow at its new location, a small addition was added to the church annex and Pastor and Mrs. Glover moved out of the upstairs, to make room for more Sunday School classrooms. It became apparent to our people that the building and property were too small for any major growth for the church.
Therefore, in the spring of 1975, the Third Street property was sold and three acres were purchased on Langsford Road, on the East side of Lee's Summit. The first services were held in the new building on September 28, 1975. Since that time, a new wing for offices, classroom, nursery and rest rooms has been added. The auditorium has been remodeled and the church family has grown considerably. Pastor Robert Glover is still the pastor of this family of believers, having served now for over 47 years.
