About us:

   On September 14, 1978, Trudy and I held a Bible study at the Merritt's home on Romaine road. Stanford and Priscilla Simon who were living in Gonzales at the time, brought us. Little did I know that, that small group of about ten people would be the beginning of what is now many years later, Faith Christian Church.
We continued to meet on Thursday night for Bible study and soon I began to sense that maybe this is where God wanted us to be.  I talked it over with our small group and they were just as excited as we were at the prospect of starting a church here in Kaplan.  So in January of 1979 Trudy, our three boys and myself moved from Gonzales to Kaplan.  We met in homes for awhile but our group was growing so we then moved and met in the VFW hall.  Next, we found a vacant furniture store on Eleventh Street and moved into it. And that was our home for threee and a half years.  We had become a Storefront Church.In 1981, we purchased some property on the West end of town and started construction on our first building.  Construction went slow but in October of 1982, we moved into our own building.  We thought we had died and gone to heaven, we had two bathrooms, a water fountain, and enough air conditioning to chill your bones.  I even had a private office. By 1987, our church was continuing to grow in size and ministry so construction began on a new auditorium, and we moved into our new addition in January of 1988.  That is the present facility we are in right now. Over the years we have been involved in many different types of ministry. For instance, for seven years, we had a Christian School; we also have had such ministries as a hospital ministry, and a nursing home ministry. We presently have an active Children and Youth ministries along with such ministries as Men's Fellowship, Women's Fellowship, music, greeters, tape, and small groups which we call L.I.F.E. Groups. Missions are important to us as we presently support many different ministries in all parts of the world. Our vision has always been to reach and to teach the Good News of the Gospel both here and abroad.  But the success of Faith Christian Church must first be given to our Lord Jesus Christ, for without Him we could do nothing.  Yet, I realize that God uses people and the people that obeyed God over the years and worked so hard are the true success stories of this church. People like Brother Ed Bledsoe and those at Faith Tabernacle that sent us here and supported us as missionaries.  All the workers that have worked in construction or in the various ministries along with all the prayers that have been prayed over the years by just common ordinary people.  Yes, from the least to the greatest, each has put in his part and I know that God will reward each.  Looking back is wonderful and to look at the present is a joy, but I look forward to the future for I believe that even greater things are in store for this church and for each of us individually. MY! MY! LOOK WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE! AND LOOK WHAT THE LORD IS GOING TO DO!
