About Us:
In 1990, the first performances of Lindbergh & Hauptmann: The Trial of the Century were presented to fascinated audiences in the original courtroom where the 1935 trial took place. The tremendous interest in the case, and the controversies surrounding the guilty verdict for Bruno Richard Hauptmann, led to the scheduling of annual re-enactments of this famous trial. Thousands of people have traveled to Flemington, New Jersey's historic courthouse to visit the site of the trial and to experience The Trial of the Century.
Century Productions, which has been producing The Trial of the Century, has now changed its name and has expanded its role. The new Famous Trials Theater will add several new productions each year, while continuing to produce The Trial of the Century each Fall. Each play will be based on a true or fictional case. Many of the plays will be re-enactments, while others will be more traditional plays.
And most unique of all is that all of the plays will be presented in the most famous courthouse in the world. Photos and films of the Historic Hunterdon County Courthouse have been seen by millions of people worldwide during and after the Lindbergh Kidnapping Trial. The Courthouse is being restored to 1900, and is a magnificent setting for the productions of Famous Trials Theater.
