You are welcome to join us on our match days to see what the excitement of cowboy action shooting is all about!
The Faultline Shootist Society is a Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) affiliated Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) club for the Santa Clara Valley and Central Coast area. The members of Faultline share a common interest in preserving the history of the Old West and competitive target shooting.
Cowboy Action Shooting is a multi-faceted shooting sport in which contestants compete with firearms typical of those used in the settling of the Old West: single-action revolvers, lever-action rifles, and side-by-side double barreled, pre-1899 pump or lever-action shotguns. The shooting competition is staged in a unique, characterized, “Old West” style.
Men, women, and juniors (12-17) shoot in several (typically 4-6) stages or courses of fire, in which they engage reactive steel targets with live ammunition. Scoring is based on accuracy and speed. Safety is constantly stressed and enforced while having fun in a no-pressure, casual atmosphere.
Each participant is required to adopt a shooting alias appropriate to a character or profession of the late 19th century, real or fiction, or a Hollywood Western Star. An appropriate costume is then developed accordingly. Many participants gain as much enjoyment from the character re-creation and social aspects of our sport as from the shooting competition.
