Roots of Fir-Conway Lutheran Church date as far back as 1888. Services were conducted in a school house on Fir Island.
In 1896, the congregation was able to erect a small church building. The building was 24' x 42' and 14' high. It was with the generous help from the Ladies Aid that this church was possible.
Little by little the church was finished and dedicated in 1902. In 1916, the congregation felt the need for a larger church home and a new church was built. In 1917, the Conway Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church united with the Fir church and became the Fir Conway Lutheran Church with Reverand O.E. Heimdahl serving the new church union. Rev. Heimdahl served the congregation for 36 years and retired on June 28, 1947.
Today, Fir Conway Lutheran Church remains one of the most beautiful churches in the Northwest. Inside the church, there's a lovely sanctuary and one of the finest pipe organs in the area. The parsonage is located near the church. The Sunday School building was built in 1957 on the site of the old Fir Church and was connected to the church building in 1992
