Firm Foundation Foursquare Church

1000 6th Street
660-882-6094

History:

From 1995 to 2007:
In 1995, under the leadership of Pastor Mel Eaton the congregation voted to purchase the Assembly Of God Church at 1000 6th Street, which is our present location. At this time Firm Foundation was added to the name. The parsonage was turned into the adult Sunday school class, Pastor Mel’s office and the prop room. On Easter Sunday in 1995, the congregation held their first service in the new building. A double-wide trailer was donated to the church in 2000 to be used for the youth of the church and community. Subsequently the building was given the name Safe Zone. In 2004 a breezeway was added to connect the youth center with fellowship hall. In 2005 we updated the Safe Zone by removing the furniture and adding round tables, carpeting and window dressings. This building is now used for church dinners, and meetings as needed by the congregation. The name was then changed to the multi-purpose building. This year the church received a face lift with new siding, and storm windows. Our church building will be around for many generations. We continue to grow under the leadership of Pastor Mel.

From the 1940's to 1995:
In the early forties the church purchased a building on the corner of Sixth and Vine and ministered there until the spring of 1995. Our current pastors, Mel and Miriam Eaton, came to us from Monte Vista Colorado Foursquare Church in 1977. Mel & Miriam met at L. I. F. E. Bible College in Los Angeles California. After graduation, they and their two children, Melody and Michael, went directly into pastoral ministry. After pastoring two other churches, Pastor Mel was called to take the pastorate in Boonville. We have all been growing together for over 30 years.
