About Us:
First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Grifton, is a part of the larger church known as the Christian Church (DoC). We often refer to ourselves as "The Disciples". The Disciples began and grew up in the latter years of the eighteenth and beginning of the nineteenth centuries along what was then the western frontier, western Pennsylvania, what became West Virginia, and eastern Kentucky. Our roots are primarily Scotch-Presbyterian. The Disciples came to North Carolina in the early 1830's, and some of our oldest congregations date from that period.
As a church family we meet on Sundays, we share in the Lord's Supper or Holy Communion weekly, we practice baptism by immersion, although other forms are acceptable. We have an active youth program of junior high known as Chi Rho, high school known as CYF, and a Sunday morning children's worship experience known as the Worship and Wonder Center. We have a women's group, the CWF; a men's group, the CMF.
