History :
The first Methodist Minister arrived in Sanderson in 1899. George Ward was a circuit rider who traveled to many towns in the area. Charley Wilson, one of Sanderson's earliest leaders and seeing the need for a church in Sanderson, deeded land in 1900. In 1905 leaders of the Methodist Church began raising money to build a church building. In the early days the church was used by all denominations. In 1928, when William Justice was pastor, the parsonage was built. In 1944, with the arrival of Reverend John Klassen, a new church building was built. The present church building was completed in August 1945, and has been in continuous use ever since.
