Foothills United Methodist Church was chartered in November, 1978. The young congregation began meeting in the multi-purpose room ofRescue Elementary School and reaching out to the newly developing Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/El Dorado Hills/Rescue area, which is about 35 miles east of Sacramento, CA. Under the 17 year leadership of founding Pastor Larry George the congregation experienced steady growth, completing a sanctuary in 1984 and an educational building in 1989.
