History:
Forestwood Baptist Church began as a mission Sunday, February 7, 1982 at the Aikin Elementary School cafetorium in Roman Forest. From the initial service, the mission was financially self-supporting, adopting a budget that emphasized mission support through both the Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative Program and direct mission enterprises. The growing little mission was constituted as a church at a special service on Sunday, October 10, 1982.In October 1991, Forestwood received a special Certificate of Recognition from the Tryon Evergreen Baptist Association for outstanding growth. In 1991 and again in 1993, the church was honored with the Pace Setter Award for evangelistic growth.Forestwood celebrated its 25th anniversary in February 2007. The Lord continues to bless the efforts of His church as we fulfill the responsibilities of a New Testament Church. Many people have served in important roles in the history of Forestwood, including those who fill the pews each Sunday and on Wednesday night, and
particularly those who serve quietly in the background. The importance of any person cannot be diminished, because without each of them the church would not be complete. They have said... "As for me, and my house, we will serve the Lord."
