A pioneer of the Illinois park district system, the Freeport Park District is one of the first 13 park districts established in Illinois. Known for its foresight in preserving open space and land for public parks and recreation, the District was organized in 1911 with a mission to promote the use of recreation and generate an exciting, dynamic quality of life for its community by providing the highest quality facilities and programs to meet the ever-changing needs and interests of individuals of all ages and abilities.
The Freeport Park District boasts more than 800 acres of owned and leased land, which it operates and maintains beyond the city limits. Our outstanding facilities include an aquatic center, 36-hole golf course and driving range, nature preserve and center, antique carousel, 18-hole miniature golf course, boat rental operation, historical museum, skate park and athletic complex.
With hundreds of activities to choose from, the Freeport Park District is dedicated to providing a wide variety of recreation opportunities.
