The Fremont Community Players is believed to have its origins sometime in the 1930s, though its early history is somewhat sketchy.

Around the 1960s, the Players performed frequently at the old Elks Club that was located near Military and D streets. The shows were performed on the second floor of the Elks building, in the ballroom that at the time was considered the best in the state. The Elks permitted the Players to build a stage in the ballroom.

In subsequent years, the Players performed at the Larson Opera House and at the Holiday Lodge. Rehearsal space was often at a premium, as the group frequently rehearsed in the Episcopal Church parish hall or in the homes of its members.

From its earliest years, melodramas are said to have been part of the Players' proud tradition, although throughout the years, the group has performed a wide variety of works.

After being inactive for about six years, the Players reorganized in April of 2004. The group performed a dinner theater production of Neil Simon's "The Good Doctor" in April 2005, and performed melodramas at Fremont's John C. Fremont Days celebration in both 2004 and 2005.
