Fremont County School District #1 is located in the beautiful community of Lander, nestled along the eastern slope of the Wind River Mountains in west-central Wyoming. Lander is the county seat of Fremont County. The district encompasses a total land area of 3,147 square miles with a district census of 11,330 residents.  We serve the communities of Lander, Hudson, Jeffrey City, and the surrounding area, including the Wind River Indian Reservation.

We are a district of about 1,750 students with approximately 73% white students, 12% Native American, 7% Hispanic, 6% multi-race, 1% Asian.  About 33% of our students are on free and reduced lunch, and 10% of our students are special education students.

The town of Lander has approximately 7,400 residents of which 90% are white. The average age of Lander residents is 40 years old with 26% holding a bachelor's degree or higher.

Fremont #1 offers a comprehensive educational program for kindergarten through 12th grade. The district is fully accredited by the Wyoming Department of Education and AdvancED (North Central).  Our program is fueled by the energy of an active and informed Board of Trustees, an experienced and dedicated staff, and interested and participating parents and community members. Our mission statement and our Strategic Plan goals drive our decision-making process.

We are home to six attendance centers. We have three elementary schools, a middle school, and two high schools,
