Mission

The mission of the United Arts Council of Gaston County is to develop, advance, enhance and sustain the cultural life of our community.

The United Arts Council of Gaston County was founded and incorporated in 1979 as a result of efforts by the Gaston Chamber of Commerce to unite the arts under one umbrella organization. Since 1979, The Council has grown tremendously. Presently, responsibilities of the Council include raising funds, serving as a resource and advisor for a total of 23 local agencies, developing and implementing appropriate programs, providing arts advocacy on a local/state/regional level and long range planning. The Council is responsible for four major grant programs: Regional Artist Project, Grassroots/Projects pool, Operating Assistance and Arts in Education.

The UAC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to provide support and funds for arts programming in Gaston County.
