Company Profile
Gaston Skills, Inc. is a private non-profit organization that was incorporated in 1964 to serve the mentally retarded adults in Gaston, Lincoln and the eastern portion of Cleveland Counties. Gaston Skills, Inc. now serves not only people with mental retardation but also people who have emotional and physical disabling conditions. The Governance Authority for Gaston Skills, Inc. is comprised of eighteen strong community leaders who volunteer their time to serve on the Board of Directors.
Gaston Skills, Inc. has proven itself to be a leader in the delivery of quality human services to people with disabilities. Originally established in Dallas, NC. Gaston Skills, Inc. began to expand and develop new programs and services for people with disabilities. More space was needed in which to operate, so in 1998 Gaston Skills, Inc. procured property and relocated its base of operations to Gastonia, NC.
In 2000 Gaston Skills, Inc. acquired Salem Industries which is located in Lincoln County. While already established as a provider of quality services, Salem Industries has expanded its vision and mission and under the direction and guidance of Gaston Skills, Inc. is growing to be a more comprehensive Community Rehabilitation Program.
