Mission:

Glen Baptist Church exists to Glorify God by moving people towards complete Christian maturity. Resulting in their growing love for God and their growing love for people, which results in a greater desire to impact / influence their world for Christ.

History:

It was 1962, that the Lord raised up a testimony for His Namesake, in response to a shared burden of four sister churches in our area.  Weekly Bible studies began, led by members of Breesport Baptist Church, Hillcrest Baptist Church of Elmira, First Baptist Church of Horseheads, and Pine Valley Baptist Church. 

As an extension of Pine Valley a group organized in Watkins Glen and shortly after called Missionary Pastor James Switzer to serve as their first Pastor who led them to purchase property and build their first building at our current location , after initially meeting for a short time in the municipal building and then on the third floor of Glen National Bank.  In August of 1966,  the call was extended to Glen's first fulltime Pastor, Rev. Ron Stuart, who served for almost nine years at Glen.  Then in 1975, the call was extended to Pastor David Little who served at Glen for nearly eight years, followed by Pastor Kenneth Brown whose ministry continued for almost four years, followed by Pastor Michael Spiegel who served just over nine years at Glen.  In 1997 our current Pastor, Teddy Herron accepted the call to pastor Glen Baptist Church.  Each of these faithful pastors have been committed students of God's Word and each in their own unique way demonstrated their gifts as Bible teachers.

Glen Baptist Church has a rich history of Bible centered ministry and that continues today and it is the expressed intent and desire to continue so till Jesus Christ comes again.
