A Methodist Church was established in 1888 at Illinois Station, a railroad stop east of the Arkansas river. In 1909 a new church was built on the site where the present day church is located, and the name changed to Gore Methodist Church. You will find in this church a friendly people from all walks of life who believe in a God who lives and has revealed himself through Jesus Christ, a God who extends his grace to all and calls us to a faith that is expressed in loving action. We view the church as a vital aid in living out our faith. We are not dogmatic in theology and welcome persons of various theological positions. Four guidelines are the measuring sticks of our belief: scripture, the tradition of the church, our own experience and the capacity to reason together. We are not a perfect people, but a seeking people, we do not claim to have all the truth or all wisdom, but we are a searching and learning community of faith. We invite you to bring your unique experiences and join us on the journey of faith.
