About

The Goshen Central School District was established in 1937. The buildings and athletic facilities are well-maintained and serve as community centers, meeting many of the recreational needs of all age groups within the school district.

Approximately 2,879 students are enrolled in four buildings organized by grade levels to provide the most effective staffing and physical space for our enriching programs. The schools are almost within sight of each other on spacious grounds in the northeast corner of the Village of Goshen. Each building is encouraged to develop and maintain its own personality within the district’s overall philosophy. The respective buildings house grades K-2 (640), 3-5 (620), 6-8 (715) and 9-12 (904). Each building has an active and supportive parent/teacher group and year-round educational opportunities.

Educational programs are designed to meet the needs of all students regardless of their abilities or future plans. The elementary classes are reasonably sized to allow staff to provide programs for students in need of remediation, as well as for those who are gifted. Every student in grades K-8 receives general music instruction as well as music theory. Starting in fourth grade, instrumental lessons are offered as well as early morning chorus for talented fourth and fifth graders. In addition, PTO sponsored clubs, such as creative writing, science, math, aerobics and cooking are extremely popular and well attended. Students in grades 3-12 can participate in the Odyssey of the Mind program. Students in grades 6-12 may participate in Science Olympiad.
