Gotwals Elementary School is located the Borough of Norristown with student population of approximately 400 students in grades K-5. Currently Gotwals is meeting its No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Average Yearly Progress (AYP) targets.
One-on-one tutoring is provided for students from Citizen Bank volunteers, Eastern College students, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Delta Sigma Sorority, and Foster Grandparents. Summer and Saturday academic classes are held to strengthen skills through differentiated standards-based instruction in reading and math.
New in 2004 is the Second Step program, an anti-bullying program coordinated by Gotwals’ guidance counselor. Through the Second Step program, teachers recognize how to deal with disruptions and behavior issues.
