History:
Grace Church, a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, was organized in February 1952 by Lutheran families living in Lockhart. The congregation built its first white frame church in 1956, and a second larger church in 1972. The original building now houses Grace Lutheran Preschool, and the second building serves as the parish hall. A new limestone church was built and dedicated in March, 1999.
The people of Grace are of all ages with activities for everyone. We worship on Sundays and midweek, and provide Sunday School for all ages, as well as other educational opportunities. The Women of the Church have monthly Bible Studies and other activities, and youth have regular instruction as well as opportunities for fun, fellowship and service to the community. In addition to Lockhart, our members come from Austin, Dale, Maxwell, Red Rock, Lytton Springs and Kyle and surrounding areas.
Grace people participate in many community activities, and engage in Christian social action through the Lockhart Ministerial Alliance and the Caldwell County Christian Ministries. We also support through our women's group the Hays-Caldwell County Women's Shelter.
Although we come from many communities and have many interests, we are united by our faith in God through Jesus Christ. God calls us in grace to grow in faith and share his love. If you are not a member of another church, we invite you to join with us.
