We believe that students, parents, conununity members, teachers and staff must share responsibility for building and implementing curricuhunsuited to the intellectual, emotional, social and physical growth and development of yonng adolescents. Weare conunitted to a strong advisory program, to an integrated curricuhun involving real world problems and simulated experiences, and to alternative methods of instruction and assessment for all our students.
Social Curriculum
GBS is committed to maintaining a positie school climate and a safe schol environment for our students, staff ad parents. A healthly shool culture is essentila for acacemic learning to occur. Hence, we believe that the social curriculam is as important as the academic curriculum.
In 1992, we established the GBS Students' Bill of Rights and Responsibilities and the GBS Code of Conduct: Respect, Cooperation & Honesty. These rights, this code and the following guiding priniciples of the Responsive Classroom approach underline our student social curriculum and many teaching practices at GBS.
There is a set of social skills children need in order to be successful academically and socially: coperation, asseration, responsibility, empathy and self-control.
A clear and consistent approach to displicine fosters personal and social responsibility, self-discipline and self-control.
The greatest cognitive growth occurs through social interaction.
