Mission Statement:
The mission of the Greater Latrobe School District is to prepare students to become lifelong learners and responsible productive citizens. No Child Left Behind, the federal mandate, emphasizes student performance on reading and math tests and on writing assessments. While the School District accepts accountability for test scores, we firmly believe that there is more to a quality education than standardized test results. We require all students to participate in diverse course offerings across academic, athletic and art curricula. A plan is developed and implemented to integrate technology and human relation skills. We are dedicated to providing a secure and safe school environment. Our goal is the creation of a community of learners who exhibit mutual pride and respect for each other, for our schools, and for our community at large.
With the completion of the high school renovation, all five school buildings and Memorial Stadium provide modern, well equipped, and climate controlled physical plants. In addition to classrooms, each building has spaces dedicated to art, music, and physical education, as well as libraries of books, reference materials and connections to the worldwide web of information. The high school features several unique and specialized areas including the Center for Student Creativity, a state of the art planetarium, a swimming pool, an auditorium, a TV production studio, a World Language lab, two gymnasiums, and a well equipped conditioning facility. Community groups as well as students are encouraged to use all facilities.
