About Us:
Greenback Historical Society, Inc. of Greenback, Tennessee, was formed and granted a charter with the State of Tennessee in September,2006, as a non-profit corporation. In March of 2009 we received our designation as a Public Charity, 501 3 (C) retroactive to September 2006.
Our goals are to preserve, exhibit, interpret, and promote the memories, artifacts, events and stories about Greenback and the surrounding communities. Two of our objectives were to aid the Greenback Heritage Museum through volunteer docents and equipment and the Greenback Community Club in the collection, printing, and binding of the Heritage Scrapbook
Since our inception our members have met four times each year to share memories, photographs, and to hear a program on historical topics and remembrances of yesterday. Educational programs are open to the public. A quarterly newsletter is sent to members and supporters through which we announce the meetings, events of interest and news regarding the organization.
We have sponsored Civil War Trail Markers at Sherman's Morganton Crossing and at the National Campground. We are also participating in the Appalachian Quilt Trail. Our Boxcar Quilt pattern is located on the west wall of the Greenback Drug and Diner on Morganton Road.
