In 1837, the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) founded the New Garden Boarding School to prepare women and men for a lifetime of learning, work, and constructive action dedicated to the betterment of the world. Now known as Guilford College, the institution has a commitment to a transformative liberal arts education for all students with an emphasis on principled problem solving.
