Haakon School District was first established in 1902 as the Philip Independent School District. Located in western South Dakota, the Haakon School District is made up of Philip Elementary, Philip Junior High, and Philip High School as well as one country school; Milesville.
Our school's vision is dedicated to assisting in the development of each student's optimum potential. Our education programs focus on providing opportunities for students of pursuing knowledge basis to all fields of learning. We recognize the need for our educational programs to be sensitive to the concepts of a changing world.
We believe that the acquisition of fundamental skills implies the development of self-discipline, respect for authority, and acceptance of responsibility for students' own actions. We strive to provide programs within our K-12 system that will provide students the tools for continued learning. School personnel, parents, and the community work together in partnership, and are vital to the successes of each student by providing an effective education program.
