-We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative word of God that provides the means for living an overcoming and victorious life. We offer Bible-based teaching by Spirit filled teachers.
-We believe that Salvation is a free gift paid for through the blood of Jesus Christ.
-We believe that each person can and should have a personal relationship with God and that He is willing to forgive us of any sins and fill us with His Spirit.
-We believe that God hears and answers prayer.
-We believe in true worship from the heart. Our worship services offer a blend of contemporary and traditional worship music combined with state-of-the-art video to provide a complete worship experience. Our Music Department is under the leadership of David Goldsberry a graduate of Jackson College of Ministries in Jackson, MS.
-We believe that young people are one of the most important assets that we have. We teach bible-based principles as they pertain to practical life applications. Our Youth Department meets every Wednesday evening at 7:30 in the basement of HighPoint Church. There they study the Word together in an "open forum" format. There is also time for fellowship in our activity center. (Pool table, Foosball tables, Air Hockey, Contemporary Christian Music and general FUN and Fellowship!) We also have designated activity nights. Usually held on a Saturday night, past activities have included movie night, laser tag, video game competitions, skating (ice and roller), make your own pizza night, and lots of other "stuff". You are always welcome!
Our History
HighPoint Church of Brandon was founded as First Pentecostal Church in 1973. The members met for their first service at the one-room Bloomingdale Civic Center, at the corner of Bloomingdale Ave. and Lithia-Pinecrest Rd. Within a year, under the leadership of Pastor Frank Goldsberry, a piece of property at the current location at 2207 Lithia-Pinecrest Rd. was purchased. Soon after that the first of a three phase building project was completed. As the church grew, the second phase was completed. This included a beautiful fellowship hall, a commercial kitchen, and a full basement (yes a basement in Florida).
This was the home of Brandon Christian Academy for several years. During that time many lives were touched.(both students and parents) Even though the school is no longer there, lives are still being touched as a result of the school having been there because many of these students are now working in various ministries across the country.
This part of the church is now being utilized as Sunday School rooms and an activity center for the youth department.
As we grow, we look forward to building our third phase that would include a new sanctuary, additional Sunday School rooms and office space.
In October of 2005, the name of the church was officially changed from First Pentecostal Church of Brandon to HighPoint Church of Brandon. At that time Reverend Loran Mejean also took over as our new pastor. As a result, our founding pastor, Reverend Frank Goldsberry moved from the position of pastor to the position of bishop.
We continue to celebrate our pentecostal heritage as well as welcoming in a new era of blessings and growth as we move forward for the Kingdom.
