HIPPY is a kindergarten readiness program that helps parents of 3, 4, and 5 year old children prepare for school. It consists of a 30 week curriculum that is delivered weekly to parents in their home by a HIPPY Home Visitor. Each visit lasts approximately one hour and the staff role plays the weekly lessons with the parent. Parents voluntarily join the program and agree to work with their children fifteen minutes a day on the activities. The program provides developmentally appropriate curriculum to help the children with knowledge, emotional support, and intellectual stimulation while underscoring the importance of the relationship between families, schools, and the larger community. The program has the capacity to build children's skills and confidence, which helps them enter school ready to learn.
