Gold Hill, once called the 'Prince of the Atlantic'. The richest gold mining town east of the Mississippi. Located in the heart of the Carolina Gold Rush Territory, in Rowan County, North Carolina, USA.

The Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation was established in January of 1992. Since its inception, its major goal has been to restore and develop and maintain Gold Hill Mines Historic Park. The various committees of the organization continue today to work on the restoration. The 70 acre park has been developed largely by volunteers with no county, state or federal funds to date.

*Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation, Inc.* (est. in 1992) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Gold Hill and it's cultural heritage.  With 501(c) (3) status, all donations to the foundation qualify for maximum tax deductions.  The foundation relies on private donations for all operating expenses. It's holdings include the 70 acre GoldHillMinesHistoricPark with The Russell-Rufty Memorial Shelter, Gold Hill Jail, Bernhardt Family Log Barn and Assay Office, Restored Powder House and Chilean Ore Mill and an outdoor amphitheater with a 30'x40' covered stage.  The park also includes The Barnhardt, Randolph and Miller Gold Mine Shafts, as well as the Gold Hill Pond and The Gold Hill Rail Trail. The foundation is committed to preserving the park property in it's original, natural state
