Mission

To be a credible sign of God’s love and care, Holy Childhood Parish needs to be a loving, charitable and caring community that is spiritually challenging, generously welcoming and liturgically alive. We strive to reach out to those in spiritual need and basic material needs. We will be open to the ideas of others, and, with God’s help, continue to live out the Gospel message.

Founded in 1857 through the zeal, hard work, sweat and generous donations of the Catholic citizens of Mascoutah and the surrounding towns, the first church, made of brick and timber, had a capacity of 60 families. 

Two years after the founding of the church, the parishioners began the the education of the children for the community and Holy Childhood of Jesus Catholic School was born.
