Our Mission:

Holy Family Parish community seeks to nurture a vibrant and life transforming faith leading to a deep relationship with a loving God. This energizing faith relationship impels us to concrete daily acts of love, mercy, compassion, outreach and justice for all our brothers and sisters.

History

Holy Family Catholic Church is located at the center of the rapidly growing city of Hesperia in the high desert vicariate of the Diocese of San Bernardino. Like many new parish communities, Holy Family began small. In 1960, the first Mass was celebrated in a made-over garage.

Before the end of the next year, the congregation had already outgrown the former garage, and, from then on, regular Sunday Mass was celebrated at the Community Center on Lime Street. Finally, on May 9, 1061, Bishop Charles Buddy of the Diocese of San Diego decided that the time had come to make Hesperia a full and separate parish, and Fr. Carmine Porro was appointed the First pastor.

Holy Family moved to its newly built parish in February of 1963 on the corner of I Avenue and Mojave Street, its current location. Thirty-three years later on March 17, Bishop Gerald Barnes dedicated the new building, which seats 1500 people.

In May of 1997 Holy Family was pleased to host the priestly ordination of five men for the Diocese. Over the years Holy Family Parish has successfully grown to meet the needs of its current 5000 registered families. The numerous and various ministries in the parish reach out and reflect the very diverse and multicultural community of Holy Family Catholic Church.
