Holy Family Catholic Church Of Inkster

27800 Annapolis Road
313-563-8242

Mission:
Our Community is one body which has many members but all members are one. We came together in love for our own Spiritual growth and the enrichment of a caring community through prayer, education, and service. We invite and welcome our neighbors to share our sense of family belonging.

History:
In the late thirties, an influx of workers, many from the South, came to the picturesque farmland that was later to be the City of Inkster. They came for employment in the auto industry, in the plants of River Rouge and Willow Run, and in the medical complex known as Eloise. Some were black Catholics who found a spiritual home in Detroit's St. Benedict the Moor, but that was some fifteen miles away.

Correspondence between the pastor of St. Benedict's, Fr. Timothy Murphy, and the Provincial of his religious order, the Holy Ghost Fathers shows that there were immediate plans to build in Inkster. One letter said that a church building could be put up "within a month from the day they began work." The year was 1941 and World War II soon halted construction hopes.
